Installing the Pharos client on your Laptop

Now that you've added a new local printer, it's time to install the PHAROS client.

Borrow the Pharos 4.7 CD from the help desk. Put the CD in your CD drive. Double-click on My Computer and again on your CD Drive. Double-click on the program named Setup.exe.

A window will open like the one you see below. Select Install PHAROS 4.70.

Select Express and then Next. The client will automatically choose a directory in which to install. Either Browse to a new directory or, to accept the default, select Next.

Create backups by selecting Next. Again, it's a good idea to accept the default directory choice.

Select Add Port to get the Port Name popup window. Enter C:\temp\port.prn if this is a new install. If you are reinstalling the software, then there should already be a port name entered when you get to this window, and you would not need to add a new one. (The port can be any file ending in .prn and the file must not already exist. If you get a message that the file already exists, then try something like C:\temp\port2.prn .)

Once you have entered the port name, select OK. The port name will appear next to the Add Port button. Select Next.
