I'm trying to add a person to my Blackboard site, but the system's telling me that no user matching the search criteria was found. How do I proceed?
1. If you searched by e-mail address to enroll the individual, try searching again by Onyen (what appears before one's @email.unc.edu address) or by last name. The current Blackboard record for the individual may not include the e-mail address that you're using to search, even if this is an Onyen address.
2. If you haven't done so already, make sure that the person hasn't already been added as a course participant. He or she may have been added automatically or by someone else who has Control Panel access to the course. Go to the site's Control Panel, click List/Modify Users, and search for the person, either by last name or by username (Onyen).
3. If you don't see the person listed, and you are certain that this person has an Onyen, submit an online help request for further assistance, and include the course and the person's name and Onyen in your request. A Blackboard administrator will follow up with you either the same day or the next working day (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm).
4. If you aren't certain that the person has an Onyen account, ask the person about this. If the person has a PID number, he or she can create an Onyen account online at http://onyen.unc.edu. After he or she creates this account, you should be able to add them to the site AFTER the new Onyen has entered the Blackboard system, please see How often is user account information updated in Blackboard? for timing information. If the person doesn't have or isn't eligible for a PID number, you can create a non-Onyen user account for him or her.
