I'm a course instructor. How do I give teaching assistants, instructional support staff or other instructors access to a Blackboard site?
All instructors of record will be automatically enrolled in the corresponding Blackboard sites with the role of instructor. However, teaching assistants, instructional support staff, or other instructors other than the intructor of record will not be automatically enrolled as users. You can add them by first manually enrolling them in the site with the default role of student, and then modifying their course role as needed:
1. Log into http://blackboard.unc.edu with your Onyen and password and locate the site's link in your My Courses list. Click this link to enter the course site.
2. Locate the Control Panel option at the bottom of the Course Menu, on the left. Click this option to enter the Control Panel.
3. On the Control Panel page, under the User Management heading, click Enroll User.
4. A Search option displays. If you know the Onyen of the individual you would like to add, enter it in the search box and click the button next to User Name. You can also search by Last Name, but not by both first and last name. Click the Search button after entering your search term.
Help! I'm not able to find a record for this individual.
5. Select the desired participant by checking the box to the left of his or her name.
6. Click Submit to enroll the individual in the site.
7. A message displays informing you that the individual has been added with the role of student. Click OK to return to the Control Panel.
8. From the Control Panel, under User Management, click List/Modify Users. You will see a Search box.
9. Enter either the individual's last name or Onyen. If you enter an Onyen, be sure to click the radio button next to User Name. Click the Search button. Once the individual's user record appears, click the Properties button to the right of his or her information.
10. Scroll down to the section entitled Role and Availability. Under User Role, click the radio button next to the course role.
11. Click Submit. A confirmation message will appear, and the individual's course role has been updated.
12. Click OK to return to the Control Panel.
