Different schools and departments have different procedures for the use of campus resources. Please check with your departmental support staff and/or business manager before arranging for your own services.
PID
What is a PID and how do I get one?
The Person ID Number (PID) is an identification number assigned to all University employees.

Onyen
What is the Onyen and why is it important?
Onyen stands for the Only Name You'll Ever Need and is the ITS user ID that gives you access to many resources.

How do I set up a UNC-Chapel Hill email account?
An email account is set up when you get your Onyen.

One Card
What is the One Card and how do I get one?
The UNC One Card is the official identification card for students, faculty, and staff.

Calendar
Is there a centrally supported calendar service on campus?
ITS provides the campus with Oracle Calendar services for personal scheduling needs. Campus events are posted to the Events Calendar (also known as the Carolina Calendar).

Access From Home
Can I connect to campus resources from home?
You can connect to some campus resources from home by using the web:

For services that require the user to have an on-campus IP address/unc.edu domain name, you must use the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Carolina Computing Initiative (CCI)
What is the CCI?
The Carolina Computing Initiative was created to ensure that Carolina students, faculty, and staff have easy access to high-quality and affordable computers.

Software
What software is available for download?

Data storage (AFS)
Do I have access to data storage space?
AFS is a file system used by UNC-Chapel Hill to provide personal and group disk storage to anyone with an Onyen.
