Newsgroups

 What are Newsgroups?

The Newsgroups service is provided by UNC-Chapel Hill at news.unc.edu which can be accessed both on and off campus. A newsgroup is an e-mail-based service that allows you to send and read messages to e-mail lists about specific topics. Newsgroups provide an online forum for countless topics. Rather than having messages sent to your e-mail address, messages are sent to an intermediary computer that stores them and allows you to access them.

 How to Get Started

In order to begin using Newsgroups, you will need to configure your e-mail client. Please visit the Help site [ http://help.unc.edu/category/040 ] for information about configuring your client to use Newsgroups.
