Connecting to isis.unc.edu using Terminal in Mac OS 10.

What is Terminal?

Terminal is the built-in command shell for Mac OS 10. Terminal supports use of the SSH network protocol that is necessary for establishing a secure connection to isis.unc.edu.

Using SSH

1. Access the Terminal application through Applications > Utilities > Terminal

2. Type ssh your_onyen@isis.unc.edu

Once connected you can use Pine or access any of the things you previously did within isis.unc.edu.

Potential Problems

If you have in the past used an SSH or SFTP client to connect with isis.unc.edu then you may be unable to connect. For information on this problem and a resolution to it please refer to the help article at http://http://help.unc.edu/6150
