This document is primarily for ITS system administrators. It lists the recommended DNS and NTP settings which should be used for the servers you are responsible for.
UNC ITS now has three geographically distinct machine rooms for DNS and NTP (Network Time Protocol) coverage, with servers in all three locations. Particularly when configuring critical ITS servers (where you want maximum service availability), our recommendation to those ITS system administrators is outlined below.
If your server is in ITS-Phillips and has an IP address in the range 152.2.0.x - 152.2.3.x, the following should be your DNS settings:

If your server is in ITS-Phillips and its IP address is NOT in the range 152.2.0.x - 152.2.3.x, the following should be your DNS settings:
