Effective August 1, 2013, the UNC-Chapel Hill for any antivirus software licensed by Symantec will expire. Symantec will be replaced with antivirus software by Microsoft. Uninstalling Symantec Products
Before installing SEP 11 it is necessary to remove any current or earlier version of the software. ITS Software has made an uninstaller package available in order to accomplish this.

| Before proceeding further, please save all work and close all windows. Also verify that you are using an Admin account with a non-blank password. The uninstaller can lose unsaved work or fail to complete if either condition is not met. |

| Begin by downloading the installer from RemoveSymantecMacFiles.zip. |

| Unpackage and open the removal utility. Double-click the command file to begin the uninstallation. You will be prompted to supply your admin password. There will be no feedback or indication that you are entering characters into this field.

| Please read the provided Warning. When you are ready to begin choose option 1. Doing this will remove all Symantec programs on the computer.

| When finished you will be prompted to restart the computer. There is a possibility for the uninstaller to hang. If you do not see this prompt after two minutes then reboot the computer and attempt to run the uninstaller again.
