Why does the Symantec Anti-Virus LiveUpdate fail or hang on my Mac OSX system?
The Symantec LiveUpdate failure is related to an Apple QuickTime version update (7.1). A new QuickTime version (7.1.6) resolves the issues with Symantec LiveUpdate. The new version can be obtained from: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html
It is not necessary to reinstall Symantec AV 10 for Mac OSX after installing the new QuickTime version, but it is necessary to run Symantec LiveUpdate after installing the new QuickTime version.
