Note: Go-live of ConnectCarolina for Finance and HR/Payroll and the expanded InfoPorte (reporting) is Oct. 1, but the technical and functional teams are starting the cutover process on September 4. For more information, visit Cutover to Connect Carolina Begins and Connect Carolina User Information.
The Information Technology Services (ITS) ConnectCarolina training team offers hands-on, instructor-led workshops for faculty, staff, and students who will be transitioning to the ConnectCarolina systems. These events are scheduled in advance, and anyone with an Onyen can register online.
You must have an Onyen to use the ConnectCarolina online registration program and to login to the computers in the training rooms. Visit https://onyen.unc.edu to find out more about the Onyen and the resources that are available to you.
Please note that many workshops are offered in a series where workshops build on one another. Before registering for a workshop, please make sure that you have met any and all prerequisite skills listed on the course descriptions page. Registering for a workshop suggests that you have mastered the prerequisite(s) listed.
Please arrive on time, as instructors are encouraged to start and end workshops on time. Please be aware that if you are late for the workshop, your seat may be given to any wait list registrant. Workshops are closed after 15 minutes; you may reschedule.
To view the offerings currently scheduled, first go to the ConnectCarolina Current Schedule of Workshops to display the list of offerings:
From the ConnectCarolina Current Schedule of Workshops and Events, click on the title of the event that you are interested in. For the purposes of this document, we will select Admissions: Applications Processors.
After selecting an event, the next page (as shown below) will display important information about the event: date, time, location, a map link, number of seats currently available, registration deadline, a brief description of the event, and prerequisites, along with links to Register Now and Return to ConnectCarolina Current Schedule.
The procedure for registering is simple: click on Register Now from the “description page” (as shown above). You will be prompted to enter your Onyen and password. After verifying your employment information, click Submit Registration. A confirmation screen (as shown below) will be displayed, and a confirmation will be emailed to you within an hour.
Repeat the registration process described above for each event that you wish to attend. You will not need to log in again.
If there are no spaces remaining when you are viewing the Current Schedule of Workshops, Event is Full: Accepting Wait List Registrations will be displayed in red letters beneath the event title. It is possible that an event becomes full before this message displays and you submit your registration. In either case, you can still register and be placed on the wait list. The confirmation screen and the automatically-generated email will inform you if you are on the wait list or have a confirmed registration. If a confirmed registrant cancels his/her registration, the first person on the wait list will be automatically registered and notified via email.
If you are on the wait list and receive the email stating that you are now registered, but you do not plan to attend, cancel your registration. If you don’t, you will be marked as a no-show and someone else may miss the opportunity to attend.
Wait list registrants may attend the workshop to see if there’s a last minute cancellation or no-show. Wait list registrants will be seated in any unoccupied seat five (5) minutes after the workshop is scheduled to begin. Wait list registrants are given seats according to their position on the wait list.
On the Current Schedule of Workshops (see Image 1) there are two options listed to search for a specific event that is currently accepting registration. The text box on the left allows you to enter part of or the entire event’s title and/or use the category drop-down list to narrow your search criteria before selecting the View/Search Events button.
If you are unable to attend an event (due to circumstances other than emergencies and adverse weather), you should cancel your registration at least 24 hours in advance. You have two options for canceling your registration: Click on the Click here to cancel your registration link contained in the confirmation email sent to you when you registered. Or, select the My Registrations/Cancellations link listed on the Current Schedule of Workshops (see Image 1), and select the Current Registrations link on the left. Then select the Cancel link listed beside the event (as shown below).
Note that clicking the “Click here to cancel your registration link” (contained in the confirmation email sent to you) does not require you to log in. So, be mindful of others having access to this link, unless you want someone else to cancel your registration.
Once you have successfully canceled your registration for an event, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Note that the option to cancel is closed one hour (or more) before the start time of the event, as noted on the description page for each event.
If ConnectCarolina must cancel or reschedule an event, registrants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance. In the case of an emergency (instructor illness, adverse weather, etc.) we will contact registrants as soon as possible via email.
As previously stated, you will receive a confirmation email, within an hour of registering for an event, stating that you either have a confirmed registration or have been added to the wait list. Note that you should save the wait list email, as it contains the only link for you to cancel your registration, should the need arise. If your registration is canceled, you will receive an email confirming your cancellation. We will send you a reminder email at least one day before the scheduled event. Soon after the event, we will send you an email soliciting your feedback and providing a link to complete a short evaluation.
Are you subscribed to the spam filtering service? To avoid trapping emails about events from ConnectCarolina, add a rule allowing mail from the abcsignup.com domain. The My Registrations/Cancellations link listed on the Current Schedule of Workshops (see Image 1) includes your registrant information (as shown below) with links for you to cancel your registration, view and print the Certificate of Participation, and view, print, or search all of your (current/upcoming and past) training records offered through ConnectCarolina. You will be prompted to enter your Onyen and password once you select this link, unless you have recently logged in to the site and your session has not expired.
Look for the Click here for printable version link at the top of the screen in the first two following registrant information areas.
1. Current Registrations displays information for current events for which your status is confirmed, wait listed, or canceled. To update your employment information for a confirmed or wait listed event, select the Edit link. Note that employment information may be changed per event. Your employment information is stored in the ConnectCarolina registration database only and does not affect other campus databases.
2. Past Registrations displays information for events that you registered for (including cancellations) that have already passed.
3. The Search Events panel (as shown below) allows you to enter various search criteria to find upcoming, current, and past events in the registration database.
- To search for upcoming events from this screen select either All or Not Registered from the Registration Status drop-down list.
- Choose Sort Results By Event Date or Event Name.
- Enter as much or little of the search criteria as you desire, and select Click Here to Search Events.
- When the Event Listing screen is displayed, a Register link will be available for all upcoming events for which you have not yet registered.
- Other links available from the Event Listing screen include View, Cancel, and Edit. Note that you will not be able to cancel or edit information once registration has closed for that event.
4. The Certificates panel allows you to view and then print a Certificate of Participation for each ConnectCarolina event that you’ve registered for and attended. Note that the status and last updated fields on this screen pertain to the certificate not the actual event.
