How can I get an email domain or host removed from the spam block list?


In an effort to reduce the amount spam received by users of the UNC-CH central email system, ITS utilitizes email block lists to block email domains and individual hosts known to be sources of spam from sending messages to email addresses. When email messages are sent from these blocked domains or hosts, the messages will be rejected with a 550 Access denied error in the bounced message.

Submit a Request

ITS accepts requests for removing email domains or hosts from its email block lists and evaluates the requests on a case-by-case basis. If you suspect an email domain or host from which you normally receive legitimate email has been blocked, indicative from the Access denied error message described above, contact the ITS Response Center at (919) 962-HELP or Submit an Online Help Request to request the block be removed.

Once a request is received, it will be forwarded to the ITS Postmaster staff for evaluation and possible action. Please be sure to keep a copy of the bounced message with the Access denied error. The Postmaster staff might need to review the message before an action can be taken.
