Using Mobile Applications in our General Purpose Classrooms

There are a few apps that will allow you to use your mobile device in our classrooms. You can connect your mobile device to the in-house computer and control the computer, as well as project your mobile device to the video source with a wireless connection.

Mirroring 360 App is available in all General Purpose Classroom (GPC’s) and it can be used on all mobile devices. This allows you to project your device onto the main video source in the room. It is limited to only show 4 devices at a time and the instructor can moderate this capability.

The Mersive App allows the instructor (or students) to project from their device but it is unlimited as far as how many devices can connect. It is only found in a few classrooms at this time (Greenlaw 101, Phillips 206, 208, 335, Woollen Hall 304).

The SplashTop app allows you to control the classroom computer from your mobile device, which can assist you in instructional collaboration and allow you to walk away from the podium. The app is available in three ways, depending on your mobile device:

1) TouchPad for iOS devices only
2) Whiteboad for iPad and Windows Tablets (this allows for annotation)
3) Splashtop Personal for Android devices
